About Us
Smith County Social Dance Society –
A fun dance break from the norm. We cover a variety of partner dance styles, no partner required!
Join us to learn the basics of fun styles like: Swing, Salsa, Two-Step, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Chacha … and much more!
Whether you come by yourself, with your friends, or with your family you are guaranteed to have a good time.
We gather the third Thursday of every month. (unless otherwise noted)
7:45pm Registration Opens
8:00pm 30 minute beginner lesson
8:30-10pm open dance floor
Our Facebook page will list the style of Social/Ballroom dance to be be covered that month.
NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE required!
*13 and under does require Parental/Adult attendance

SCSDS is a fun place to dress to the nines, but it’s not mandatory.
Shoes:
Our only rule is CLEAN SHOES! If you’re tracking in that East Texas red mud, you will be asked to remove your shoes.
If you have a fabric or leather-soled shoe, those are the easiest to move around in. The less intense your tread, the easier it is to spin and dance.
Clothing:
Wear something that you feel comfortable moving in.
If you think it’s fun to dress according to the style of dance being focused on in the lesson, you wont be alone!
If you wear a dress or skirt, wear some bike shorts underneath so you can twirl to your hearts content.
Keep in mind this is partner dancing, so someone’s hand will be on your back. Wear a covered back if you think you might sweat.
